Culture run amuck
Although it stopped just short of redefining marriage, yesterday’s Supreme Court decision supporting same-sex marriage is more than just a tragedy – it is evidence that our culture has run amuck.
The liberal tsunami that has been rolling over our values and our Constitution struck another blow today – this time against the sanctity of marriage. This disaster was once again led by none other than the traitorous Chief Justice John Roberts – the same man who validated Obamacare by casting the majority vote for SCOTUS.
But should this surprise us? Unfortunately – NO!
This is just another strike against tradition – whether it be fiscal, lifestyles, government, or religion. It is based in a mindset that embraces moral relativism and hedonism whereby the individual decides what is right or wrong, separate and apart from any absolute standard and guided only by personal experience of what feels good at the moment.
Culture run amuck – when did it all begin?
Different people will answer that question differently. For me, I believe it began with the acceptance of Darwinism as a scientific “proof” against creationism. It’s too bad more people don’t study the Bible. If they did they would realize that Romans 1 predicted this type of cultural decline when people deny God as Creator. It is more than interesting that our Founders in their very first official writing, mentioned the Creator as the basis for the new system of government they were declaring and went on to design a government that lasted for over two hundred years. It is unfortunate for us that denying the Creator has led to denying that our rights were given to us by Him. A culture without God as Creator is a culture that will most certainly run amuck as it degenerated into mob rule.
Culture run amuck – what it looks like
What does a culture that has run amuck look like: first of all, nothing will seem to be logical. Right is no longer right and wrong is no longer wrong. The country that hosts this environment will see a total breakdown of its system of law. Its borders will not be secure and its prosperity will be usurped by illegitimate robbers – some of them pretending to be Robin Hood but are robbers none-the-less. Others will feel entitled to take what is not theirs. Its elected officials will be weak and out of touch with reality. Its families will be broken. Its churches will be irrelevant. Its children will be out of control and its schools will cease teaching academics. Parents will not be respected by their children and sexual immorality will result in the rampant spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Its citizens can justify any wrongdoing without fear of any criticism. Citizens will be denied the right to defend themselves and their families. Murder in areas with a high concentration of people will escalate. People will ridicule those who believe in God. They will be given to violence and inventors of evil things beyond comprehension. Children will not be safe and will be easy victims – especially the pre-born. A person’s word will mean nothing – especially the word of dignitaries whose belief that they are above the law and better than the populace can justify their insincerity. Most will harbor hate in their hearts and will forget the blessings of forgiveness. The country will no longer be feared by its enemies and its defenses will be in jeopardy. All these things are at work in America today.
So, is it too late for America?
Maybe yes and maybe no.
Abraham bargained with God not to destroy Sodom if 10 righteous men could be found. The prophet Jeremiah repeatedly preached that if the people of Israel repented of their apostasy, God would relent of His judgment. 2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us that if God’s people humble themselves and pray, and seek His face – and turn from their wicked ways – that He – God – will hear and will forgive and will heal their land.
You see, the problem in America today is not Barack Obama, it’s not Eric Holder, it’s not the Supreme Court, or members of Congress. It’s the people who allowed these degenerates (yes, I used that word on purpose) to rise to positions of authority – that’s me and that’s you.
America may be too far gone for us to redeem her, but it’s not too far gone for God. However, we must get back to our roots and start rebuilding the foundations that we have allowed to see destruction. I suggest you drop to your knees right now and start begging God to forgive us of our most egregious of sins – the slaying of innocent lives, then we must bring for the fruits of repentance, and not rest day or night until this atrocity is defeated. And while we’re at it, I suggest we start praying for some intestinal fortitude and demand that the usurper now occupying the White House be removed due to his illegitimacy. Should God decide to answer our prayers as we ask, then perhaps we can undo all the evil this usurper has done to our country, and perhaps the sanctity of human life can be restored. I could only hope that today’s ruling will be the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back. If not, if our apathy does not morph into outrage; if we do not recognize our own sins of complacency, then I fear we are doomed.
