Indiana Secretary of State leaves Republican party leadership position
The Indiana Secretary of State has stepped down from her position as the second-ranking officers in the state Republican party.
Secretary of State Holli Sullivan has served as the Indiana GOP vice-chair since 2019 (US News). She was recently appointed to replace retiring Secretary of State Connie Lawson and has chosen to focus on her new position.
Sullivan was re-elected as vice-chair this past March, just after Republican Governor Eric Holcomb appointed her to Secretary of State. Her new position is responsible for overseeing statewide election issues, registering businesses, and regulating the securities industry. She decided in August to step down so she could “focus her attention on the duties of her new office.”
Her term as Secretary of State will end at the end of 2022 and she will run for a full four-year term in next year’s election. However, Sullivan faces two opponents for the Republican nominations. She is currently Indiana’s 62nd Secretary of State (Indiana Gov). She previously served as a state representative since 2014.
The wife and mother of three was a small business owner and Fortune 500 automotive engineer who accomplished a great deal while in the Indiana House of Representatives. She helped author Indian’s 20-year infrastructure plan and expanded the state’s Pre-K pilot program. As a Republican, she supports personal responsibility, limited government, and individual freedoms.
