Mark Meadows may have committed voter fraud over mobile home claim, report says

Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows rigorously pursued theories that former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election because of immense voter fraud.

According to a new report, however, Meadows himself may have been one to actually commit voter fraud as well.

The New Yorker claims it retrieved Meadows’ voter registration form and found something suspicious: on a line where he was required to write his home address, the Republican reportedly wrote down 495 Mcconnell Road, Scaly Mountain North Carolina. That address is associated with a mobile home that has never been owned by Meadows.

The New Yorker tracked down the home’s current owner, Ken Abele, who purchased it in August of 2021. “I’ve made a lot of improvements,” Abele said. “But when I got it, it was not the kind of place you’d think the chief of staff of the president would be staying.”

Meadows filled out his registration paperwork on September 19, 2020 and put his move-in date as the following day, September 20. During that time, the home was owned by someone who wanted to remain anonymous.

“That was just a summer home,” said the woman, who now lives in Florida. “We’d come up there for three to four months when my husband was living.”

Still, there is one link to the Meadows family. The woman said she did once rent the home out to Mr. Meadows’ wife, Debbie, who stayed there for one or two nights, but Mr. Meadows did not. “He did not come,” the Florida woman said. “He’s never spent a night in there.”

The U.S. Justice Department notes that “providing false information concerning a person’s name, address, or period of residence” while registering to vote in a federal election qualifies as federal election fraud.

Since the 2020 election, and in his memoir The Chief’s Chief, Meadows has consistently pushed the idea that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen from Trump, but so far over his own registration form, he has not been charged.
