Elon Musk suggests expansion of nuclear power in Europe

With the looming possibility of a large-scale ban on Russian oil in the European Union due to Moscow’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, Tesla CEO Elon Musk publicly suggested this week that European countries reactivate dormant nuclear reactors on the continent to counteract any fallout from the sanctions.
“Hopefully, it is now extremely obvious that Europe should restart dormant nuclear power stations and increase power output of existing ones. This is *critical* to national and international security,” Musk Tweeted on Sunday.
The international businessman asked Twitter users to tell him where they believed was the “worst location” for radiation and said he would go there and eat fresh produce from the ground there on live television.
Musk said he ate produce from Fukushima shortly after the power plant accident following the earthquake and tsunami that pummeled Japan in March 2011. “I did this in Japan many years ago, shortly after Fukushima. Radiation risk is much, much lower than most people believe,” Musk said.
The US banned Russian oil and gas imports on Tuesday, putting increased pressure on the European Union to follow suit, in spite of getting most of its oil from Russia.
