House Republicans are seeking answers from the 51 former intel officials who claimed Hunter Biden’s emails were Russian disinformation.

According to the Washington Times, Republicans want responses from those who dismissed the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop almost two years ago.

GOP lawmakers wrote, “The concerted effort to suppress public dissemination of the serious allegations about Hunter Biden and the Biden family, as first reported in October 2020 by the New York Post, was a grave disservice to American citizens’ informed participation in our democracy.” The letter continued, “We are investigating the role that the public statement played in this effort.”

When the New York Post published its first story on the subject, the 51 intel officials signed a public letter doubting the contents of the laptop. They said it had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” The letter was signed by people who worked “for presidents of both political parties.”

More media outlets have authenticized Hunter Biden’s emails, which has hinted at potential preparations for hearing if the GOP takes the majority in November. Lawmakers want all documents and communications relating to the “Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails” dated October 19, 2020. The former intel officials have been given an April 20 deadline.
