President Biden’s trip to survey Florida hurricane damage with DeSantis results in several viral moments

President Joe Biden’s visit this week to parts of Florida devastated by Hurricane Ian with state Governor Ron DeSantis resulted in a deluge of moments that turned into online memes and viral videos in no time.

The presidential visit took place on Wednesday, as Biden and First Lady Jill Biden visited Fort Myers, which was particularly hard-hit by the monster storm days before.

Governor DeSantis met the first couple and toured the damage with them, reporters present to capture the bipartisan moment. DeSantis is rumored to be contemplating a 2024 presidential run against Biden, though he has not officially announced his candidacy yet.

During the visit, cameras caught several moments that took the internet by storm almost immediately. In one now-viral video, a hot mic captures President Biden talking to Fort Myers Beach Mayor Ray Murphy.

In the video, the president can be heard telling Murphy, “No one f—- with a Biden. And you can’t argue with your brothers outside the house,” Murphy responds with laughter and agreement.

In another image that has now turned into a viral meme, the first couple is seen smiling and laughing with a couple who lost their home, while a forlorn-looking DeSantis appears in the foreground. The meme has made its way around social media with Democrats using it to portray Biden’s likeability compared to DeSantis’.

In spite of the levity of the few moments that went viral, the trip was a shocking visual of the devastation left by Hurricane Ian, which hit the area as almost a category five storm. The White House’s ongoing response to the storm was updated on Wednesday, including doubling the amount of time the area is eligible for federal emergency aid coverage from 30 to 60 days.
