Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, agrees to buy Parler
Rapper Ye, who was previously known as Kanye West, has agreed a deal in principle to buy social media app Parler.
Parler’s CEO, George Farmer confirmed the deal in a statement on Monday.
“This deal will change the world and change the way the world thinks about free speech. Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again,” Farmer said.
Ye’s Twitter and Instagram accounts were locked last week after both platforms said be breached their hate speech rules.
Farmer, who is married to Candace Owens and is the son of the former Conservative party treasurer and peer Michael Farmer, went onto say that “Once again, Ye proves that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative. Parlement will be honored to help him achieve his goals.”
Parler will reportedly continue to provide “ongoing technical support” as part of the deal.
Ye himself released a statement praising Parler.
“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial, we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” Ye said.
The deal comes on the back of Ye’s comments about George Floyd where he said that Floyd died from fentanyl abuse and that a police officer’s knee “wasn’t even on his neck like that.”
An attorney for the Floyd family said they were considering the next steps.
“While one cannot defame the dead, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death,”
Parler markets itself as a “free speech” platform.
Parler was launched in 2018, however it attracted negative attention in regards to its role in January 6th, 2021, riots at the Capitol building. In the aftermath of January 6th, several companies such as, Google and Amazon, blacklisted the app, making Parler inaccessible.
In September Google reinstated Parler on its Play Store, nothing that they had updated their content moderation policies and enforcement. Apple restored Parler on its App Store in April 2021.

Good for him.
And by the way when one looks at the facts related to the George Floyd death he did in fact die of a drug overdose – unintentionally but a self-induced death. The prosecutors and pathologist intentionally lied about the amount of fentanyl and other drugs in his system. had George Floyd been “White” they prosecutors and pathologist would have said he died from the drugs he took. The evidence is he consumed them to avoid having them found on him since it would have resulted in an immediate arrest since the police had the authority to search him due to his being on parole/probation. Look at how many people are dying from fentanyl all over the US even now.
