Republican Rep. Mo Brooks calls Trump ‘dishonest, disloyal, incompetent, crude’ and more
Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who has previous been at odds with former President Donald Trump, issued a warning to Republicans as they prepare for the 2024 presidential election.
Trump has recently gotten back into the media’s spotlight after he mocked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as an “average” Republican, and also targeted Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who Trump said was only in office because he helped him.
As Trump is said to be preparing for a major announcement on his plans for 2024, Brooks warned his colleagues not to choose Trump as the Republican nominee.
“It would be a bad mistake for the Republicans to have Donald Trump as their nominee in 2024,” Brooks told AL.com in an interview. “Donald Trump has proven himself to be dishonest, disloyal, incompetent, crude and a lot of other things that alienate so many independents and Republicans.
Referring to President Biden, Brooks said: “Even a candidate who campaigns from his basement can beat him.”
According to Brooks, Trump once asked him for assistance in overturning the 2020 election. Brooks also alleged that Trump repeatedly asked him to forge a path in Congress for President Biden to be removed from office and for Biden to be replaced by Trump.
Noting their disagreements, Trump eventually retracted his endorsement for Brooks.
“It’s just the way it is,” Brooks said of the matter. Brooks has served 6 terms in congress and is retiring from politics.
When asked about rumors of him running for mayor of Huntsville, Brooks responded: “If it does not involve me interacting with my 13 grandchildren, my four kids, my four kids-in-law and my wife, then it is probably false.”
Brooks added that his views on Trump have remained consistent.
“Keep in mind 2016 when I said he was dishonest, you cannot trust a single word that he says and I have never recanted that,” Brooks said.

A Sometimes-Squabbling Conservative Constellation Gathers at Charlie Kirk Invitation
One thing to remember is Donald Trump is blunt, honest, and forthright. Many people don’t like that. And under the US Constitution the Electoral College violated their oath of Office by voting for an unconstitutional team.
While Mr Biden meets the qualifications to serve as President and Vice-President, Mrs Harris does not. At best Mrs Harris is a naturalized citizen. A natural born citizen is a person born in the country of a mother and father who are citizens of the country. Amendment 14 did not give Mrs Harris US citizenship since here parents were here on student visa. The clause “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” prevented her from getting US citizenship since her parents were visitors and has no fealty to the US.
And the Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin teams were unconstitutional as well. Mr Obama and Mr McCain are/were native born citizens. Mr Obama only has a US citizen mother and Mr McCain was born in Panama. Welcome to the Constitutional crisis that is now around 14 years old.
