Apple will raise the cost of battery replacements for older iPhone models
Apple has announced that they will be raising the price of battery replacements for many of their older iPhone models.
Starting March 1, Apple will charge $89 for battery replacements for iPhone X through iPhone 13 models. This is an increase of $20 compared to the price of a battery replacement for their newer models. The iPhone SE and iPhone 8 are also being affected by the $20 increase.
Meanwhile, Apple is also raising the cost of a battery replacement for a new MacBook Air battery by $30 and $50 for MacBook Pro models.
The changes only apply to customers who have not purchased the AppleCare+ repair warranty.
Apple previously lowered the price of iPhone battery replacements in 2018 after reports revealed that the company was deliberately slowing down older iPhones. The controversy resulted in Apple paying a $113 million settlement.
