In my book Rescuing America from Nihilism: A Judeo-Scientific Approaching (Lightcatcher, 1st edition 2014), I elaborate on two eminent figures in the development of America: Christopher Columbus and the German sociologist Werner Sombart (1863-1941).

In The Jews and Modern Capitalism (1911), Sombart not only credits Jews for the rise of capitalism, but also as the most dynamic force in the modern world. Moreover, he contends, and supports with empirical evidence, that Jews built the United States to become the epitome of capitalism. He first points out that:

The scientific facts which prepared the way for the voyage of Columbus were supplied by Jewish cartographers whose knowledge of geometry and trigonometry enabled [them] to translate the Mercator projection of the globe. The money which was equally necessary came from the same quarter, at any rate for the first two voyages…. But more than that, a number of Jews were among the companions of Columbus, and the first European to set foot on American soil was a Jew – Louis de Torres…. But what caps all – Columbus himself is claimed to have been a Jew. I give this piece of information for what it is worth, without guaranteeing its accuracy. At a meeting of the Geographical Society of Madrid, Don Celso Garcia de la Riega, a scholar famous for his researches on Columbus, read a paper in which he stated that Christobal Colio (not Columbus) was a  Spaniard who on his mother’s side was of Jewish descent. He showed by reference to documents, in the province of Galicia, that the family of Colon lived the between 1428 and 1528, and that the Christian names found among them were the same as those prevalent among relatives of the Spanish admiral. These Colons and the Fonterosa family intermarried. The latter were undoubtedly Jews, or they had only recently converted …

After noting “that during the 17th and 18th centuries the trade of the Jews was the source from which the economic system of the [American] colonies drew their lifeblood,” Sombart asks: “is there not some justification for the opinion that the United States owe its very existence to the Jews?” And if this is so, how much more can it be asserted that Jewish influence made the United States just what they are – that is, American. For what we call Americanism is nothing else, if we may say so, than the Jewish spirit distilled.” This defines American Exceptionalism; it defines the one and only nation whose religious and economic foundations were created by the cooperation of Jews and Jewish gentiles!

Moreover, my book provides scholarly evidence that Columbus was indeed a Jew (a “Converso”). I dare say, therefore, that what we call Americanism is nothing else than the Jewish spirit distilled.” This also defines American Exceptionalism; it defines the one and only nation whose religious and economic foundations were created by the cooperation of Jews and Jewish gentiles!
