Sen. Manchin notes inflation is ‘getting worse’ as House poses to vote on social spending package

Democrat Senator Joe Manchin suggested inflation will increase upon the House of Representatives passing its next social spending package.
“By all accounts, the threat posed by record inflation to the American people is not ‘transitory’ and is instead getting worse,” Manchin wrote in a Tweet. “From the grocery store to the gas pump, Americans know the inflation tax is real and DC can no longer ignore the economic pain Americans feel every day.”
Earlier this week, the House passed the Biden administration’s long-coming $1 trillion infrastructure package. During deliberations, Manchin was one of a few Democrats who petitioned for the cost of the initially $3.5 trillion bill to be lowered.
In recent months, inflation has spiked at record rates, dramatized by supply chain issues and unprecedented federal spending. The Bureau of Labor Statistics’s October report suggests Americans are paying close to 50 percent more for everyday goods like meat and fuel compared to a year ago. “Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 6.2 percent before seasonal adjustment.”
However, the Biden administration insists that with the passing of social spending bills, Americans will be able to foot the higher bills since they will have more government money in their bank accounts.
The president claimed the “human infrastructure” bill would beat inflation by bringing Americans back into the workforce. “Going forward, it is important that Congress pass my Build Back Better plan, which is fully paid for and does not add to the debt.”
