Drake allegedly spent $1 million at strip club night after Astroworld tragedy

The day after rapper Drake performed at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, he apparently spent $1 million at a strip club in the city. During the concert, which turned tragic as he and fellow rapper Travis Scott were on stage, ten people were trampled to death.

According to Toronto’s BlogTo, the Canadian rapper left $1 million on the floor of the Area 29 strip club in Houston after hosting an after-party at Dave and Buster’s. In a social media video posted on November 9 by Drake’s friend, DJ Akademiks, women were seen scooping up the cash.

A man prompted them to say “Thanks, Drake,” and all responded in unison: “Thanks, Drake!” Another post from the club, which has since been deleted, corroborated Drake’s presence, citing his Instagram handle @champagnepapi. He is also a regular at the club, and may have visited in the days before the tragedy.

Drake did not issue a public statement on the tragedy at Scott’s Astroworld Festival until three days after the incident. He made a post on Instagram with a statement alongside an image of himself on his knees praying. “I’ve spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy,” he wrote.

“I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief but this is where I find myself. My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can. May God be with you all,” he added.

The events at the Astroworld Festival have left 10 dead in total, eight who were killed on the night of the stampede and two who have since died in the hospital. The youngest victim and latest death was 9-year-old Ezra Blount. He had been on life support for several days.

Ben Crump, civil rights attorney, filed a lawsuit for Blount and nearly 100 other families in civil suits against various individuals and groups connected to the concert. The suit names Travis Scott, Scoremore Mgmt, Live Nation Entertainment, Cactus Jack Records, and others as the defendants.
