Majority of Americans say Pete Buttigieg is handling the supply chain crisis poorly, new poll shows

A recent poll showed around 55 percent of both GOP and independent voters feel that Pete Buttigieg has done a poor job in his role as transportation secretary as the supply chain crisis has continued.
The poll included over 1,000 voters for the upcoming 2022 election and was conducted December 4 to December 7. The poll was commissioned by the Convention of States Action and conducted by the Trafalgar Group, with results released on Monday.
“Given that Secretary Buttigieg was very, very quietly on leave as this global crisis was brewing, we’re impressed that his numbers aren’t even worse,” said Mark Meckler, president of Convention of States Action, in reference to the poll results. “We believe this is due to the fact that many Americans aren’t even aware he is supposed to be doing something about the supply chain.”
Other findings included 14.8 percent saying Biden is doing a fair job, and only 14.5 percent responding that he is doing a good job. Independent voters answered with 53.3 percent saying Buttigieg is handling the supply chain crisis poorly, while 81.4 percent of Republican voters said the same.
Meckler continued, saying, “Mayor Pete wanted us to elect him as president, yet his first test of leadership at the national level has been an embarrassing failure.”
Both Buttigieg and Vice President Kamala Harris have been considered to be top contenders for the Democratic Party in the 2024 presidential race, but both have faced low approval ratings in their respective jobs. Those low approval ratings could negatively impact their potential races. President Joe Biden has also indicated his intent to run for re-election.
