NCAA to allow transgender swimmer Lia Thomas to compete in national championships
The NCAA announced this week that it would not be updating its eligibility requirements for transgender swimmers ahead of this year’s national championships, allowing star University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas to compete.
The announcement comes after controversy sparked by Thomas’ record-setting performances, which led some to believe she would not have such a physical advantage if she had always been female. The NCAA updates its overall policy last month, allowing each sport to set its own transgender requirements for athletes.
Earlier this month, USA Swimming announced an update to its policy for trans swimmers wishing to compete in women’s events.
The athlete must maintain a testosterone level below 5 nanomoles per liter for at least 36 months. The update shifts significantly from the previous requirements, which set the levels at below 10 nanomoles per liter for at least a year.
The change in USA Swimming’s policy sparked backlash among athletes and transgender allies, but the NCAA says its decision to keep its current policy is based on recommendations from the Administrative Subcommittee of the Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports.

Remember Lia Thomas has NOT set any woman’s records of any sort. HE is a MAN pretending to be a woman who needs to be in psychiatric treatment. His participation in women’s sports is meaningless and stealing titles from the women who really won them. Human’s gender is XY for men and XX for women and it does not change.
