REPORT: California gunman kills his three children, stranger, and then himself in church
Five people are dead after a gunman in California opened fire in a church, killing his three children, another adult, and then himself, according to authorities.
Rod Grassman, a spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, told reporters on Monday that authorities are still seeking a motive in the shooting, though it is believed the violent act was spurred by a domestic dispute.
According to Grassman, the incident occurred around 5PM on Monday, when the suspect entered the church in the Arden-Arcade community of Sacramento. An employee in the church was upstairs when he heard a single gunshot followed by several more. He then ran out of the church and called the police.
While the matter is still under investigation, Grassman says police currently believe the incident may have unfolded during a supervised visit between the gunman and his children. The other adult who was shot may have been the supervisor.
