Donald Trump to headline March rally in Georgia to boost Perdue, Walker

Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to headline a rally in Georgia later this month in the effort to turn the momentum of the election against Gov. Brian Kemp as well as other Republicans he has promised to unseat.

Trump is set to appear at the March 26 event in Commerce to boost David Perdue and other Republican candidates he has so far endorsed.

According to several GOP officials who have knowledge of the decision, the rally featuring the former president is taking place as part of Trump’s stand against state leaders who disregarded his attempts to overturn the election following his claims of widespread voter fraud. Trump also is participating in the rally looking to gain support for his slate of candidates for the state.

Aside from Perdue, Trump has given his approval to U.S. Rep. Jody Hice, who is looking to unseat Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, Herschel Walker for the U.S. Senate, state Sen. Burt Jones, who is running for lieutenant governor, and Vernon Jones for an open U.S. House race.

The former president is also set to host fundraisers at his Mar-a-Lago resort next week for both Purdue and Vernon Jones, who formerly served as a Democrat and dropped out of the race for governor at Trump’s request for him to run for a rural congressional seat.

Kemp has achieved a large fundraising advantage over Perdue, who has so far reported less than $900,000 in his campaign account and has not yet spent any of his own money on his efforts. In contrast, Kemp has garnered nearly $13 million. Perdue in a statement highlighted the important role Trump’s endorsement has played in his campaign so far.

“Georgians are ready for a bold conservative who will fight the political establishment, instead of caving to radical liberals like Brian Kemp has done every step of the way,” he said.
