Gov. Ducey announces end of Arizona’s COVID-19 state of emergency ‘is coming’
Arizona Governor Doug Ducey appeared on Fox10 on Wednesday and announced the Arizona state of emergency for COVID-19 will imminently come to an end.
When asked if there were any plans to end the state of emergency as COVID-19 cases trend downward nationwide, Ducey replied, “Yes. The emergency is over, look around.”
He added, “The state is wide open. I think we had record number of people out for the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Spring training in full bloom and people are coming here from around the country and around the world to watch the games, so we’re excited about it.”
“We’re winding down a number of things that are purely administrative. We’re working with the legislature, the general fund and federal authorities to bring an end to all of that.”
Most US states have already lifted their public health states of emergency, and of those remaining, most are set to end their state of emergency declarations by the end of April unless extended. The Federal government has no plans yet to end the federal state of emergency regarding the virus.
