Poll: Americans overwhelmingly support six of President Biden’s climate change proposals
According to a new Gallup poll released on Monday, Americans boast overwhelming support for six crucial Biden administration proposals intended to move the U.S. to reliance on renewable sources of energy.
Each of the six proposals had been included as part of the president’s Build Back Better bill, which received no support from any Republican lawmakers, and it was essentially killed when Democratic Senator of West Virginia Joe Manchin refused to back it.
When asked whether they favored or opposed “providing tax credits to Americans who install clean energy systems, like solar power, in their homes,” nearly 90 percent responded that they favored that idea.
Additionally, on whether the U.S. should give “tax incentives to businesses to promote their use of wind, solar and nuclear power,” 75 percent of respondents said they favored that proposal.
Many experts have said that a combination of wind, solar, and nuclear power will be required for the United States to hit the Biden administration’s goal of net-zero emissions by the year 2050.
Earlier in April, the president’s administration finished more strict fuel economy standards for cars and trucks. Seventy-one percent of the Gallup poll’s respondents said they favored “setting higher fuel efficiency standards for cars, trucks and buses.”
Just last month, the total amount of power generated by wind turbines in the United States hit a milestone, reaching status as the second-highest source of electricity in the nation over a 24-hour period, as noted by the Energy Information Administration.
From 2020 to 2021, the sale of electric vehicles also doubled in the country, and many expect those sales to continue rising significantly.
