Former White House aide Fiona Hill berates ‘narcissistic’ Trump in BBC interview
A former aide of Donald Trump, Dr. Fiona Hill, recently appeared on BBC’s “Sounds” where she made many insulting claims against the former president. Hill served as Trump’s deputy assistant from 2017 to 2019.
“I was really kind of shocked about how narcissistic he was. He’s no different in public and private,” said Hill, a foreign affairs expert. “It wasn’t about America first. His only ideology was self-idolatry. This was a man who didn’t know any history.”
Hill added that they were regularly attempting to mitigate the damage that the president’s actions would cause. In the interview, the former White House aide claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin frequently became frustrated with Trump’s ignorance on geopolitical issues.
“You could see that he got frustrated many times with President Trump because he had to keep explaining things, and Putin doesn’t like to do that,” she said Tuesday. “Even though he loves to be able to spin his own version of events, he wants to have predictability in the person that he’s engaging with.”
Hill also claimed that Trump’s lack of knowledge on geopolitical issues played a key role in Russia’s decision to invade Ukraine with President Joe Biden as the leader of the United States. She claimed that Putin chose not to invade Ukraine while Trump was president because “somebody like Biden” was a more suitable foe.
Biden, she said, “who’s a transatlanticist, who knows all about NATO, who actually knows where Ukraine is, and actually knows something about the history, and is very steeped in international affairs — would be the right person to engage with.”
This is one of the many times Hill has spoken out against Trump. Hill was most prominently known for being one of the key witnesses of Trump’s first impeachment hearing.
Trump has not yet responded to Hill’s comments, but the former president has previously denounced her as “a Deep State stiff with a nice accent” who was “terrible at her job.”
