PAC that helped unseat Madison Cawthorn shifts its focus to Lauren Boebert ahead of her primary election

The political action group that targeted Madison Cawthorn and arguably sealed his fate in last week’s North Carolina primary by releasing a nude video of him in bed with another man is now shifting its focus to getting Lauren Boebert out of office.

American Muckrakers, a PAC formed with the aim of ousting controversial Republican politicians, was instrumental in turning voters and Republican politicians against Cawthorn. By releasing footage of a naked Cawthorn forcibly touching another man’s face with his penis, the Muckrakers harmed Cawthorn’s campaign enough to unseat the embattled freshman congressman last week even after being endorsed by former president Donald Trump.

The group announced this week that it will now move its efforts to rallying voters against Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert. The Republican congresswoman and vocal guns rights activist has been mired in controversy since she took office in 2020.

Boebert has come under fire for possible campaign finance violations, her inflammatory social media posts, and her alleged role in the events leading up to the January 6 insurrection at the United States Capitol.

The Muckrakers launched their new website, fireboebert.com, on Thursday. The site seeks tips and information from the public that could be used to derail the Boebert reelection campaign. “I think we’re going to go after Lauren Boebert in Colorado in a similar way,” said Muckrakers co-founder David B. Wheeler to Business Insider. “I think we’re going to engage in that race pretty quickly.”

The group’s Twitter account, @FireMadisonCawthorn, Tweeted on Thursday, “Hi @RepBoebert – Ask @RepCawthorn about us. We look forward to getting to know you.”

Wheeler says his group has already obtained some potentially damaging financial information against Boebert. Without revealing details, Wheeler admits the information is not as “salacious” as the Cawthorn videos, but could be harmful to Boebert’s reelection efforts.

Boebert will face off against Colorado state Senator Don Coram on June 28 in the Colorado Republican primary.
