Ivana Trump, former wife of Donald Trump, dies at age 73
Ivana Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump and the mother of Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr., has died at the age of 73.
“I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City,” Donald Trump said in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. “She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”
New York’s fire department confirmed that they attended a call to Ivana’s Manhattan home. The call was reportedly in response to a cardiac arrest, Ivana’s cause of death has not yet been confirmed. A city official has said that they don’t suspect foul play at this stage.
Eric Trump paid tribute to his mother in a post on Instagram, which read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ivana Trump. Our mother was an incredible woman – a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend. Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination. She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren.”
Ivanka Trump took to Twitter to say that she was “heartbroken by the passing of (her) mother,” adding: “Mom was brilliant, charming, passionate and wickedly funny. She lived life to the fullest — never forgoing an opportunity to laugh and dance. I will miss her forever and will keep her memory alive in our hearts always.”
Donald Trump spoke of Ivana in his book “The Art of the Deal.” He described her as a “great manager” and also “demanding and very competitive.”
“When it comes to running a casino, good management skills are as important as specific gaming experience,” Trump wrote. “She proved me right.”
Ivanka also spoke of her mother in her 2009 book “The Trump Card: Playing to Win In Work and Life.” She wrote in the book, “My mother is an exuberant woman, filled with a passion for life and adventure that made it hard for her to stay in one place for long,” adding, “My parents are strikingly similar in that regard. They’ve grown apart, and even when they were together, they seemed to be cut in different ways, but they do share an approach to life: all out, all the time.”
Donald and Ivana married in 1997, however they divorced in 1992 after Donald Trump had an affair with Marla Maples. Maples gave birth to Tiffany Trump during their time together.
