9/11 families criticize Trump for hosting Saudi-funded LIV golf tournament at his NJ club
The survivors and family members who lost someone they cared about on September 11, 2001, have criticized former President Donald Trump for hosting the Saudi-funded golf league tournament at his National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
As reported by Market Watch, the former President suggested that professional golfers would “pay a big price” if they didn’t jump on the opportunity to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tournament.
The former President added on Truth Social, “All of those golfers that remain ‘loyal’ to the very disloyal PGA, in all of its different forms, will pay a big price when the inevitable MERGER with LIV comes, and you get nothing but a big ‘thank you’ from PGA officials who are making Millions of Dollars a year.”
In response, the 9/11 Justice group expressed their feeling as “deep pain and anger” in a letter dated from last Sunday. The letter also mentions how the former President during his Presidency blamed Saudi Arabia for the Sep. 11th attacks, which took the lives of over 3,000 Americans in 2001.
After the Sep. 11th attacks, the Saudi government denied it was involved in the attacks even though 15 out of the 19 attackers were Saudi citizens. Within the letter, the 9/11 Justice Group wanted the former President to “reconsider” his dealings with the LIV Golf.
“It is incomprehensible to us, Mr. Trump, that a former president of the United States would cast our loved ones aside for personal financial gain,” the letter states. “We simply cannot understand how you could agree to accept money from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s golf league to host their tournament at your golf course, and to do so in the shadows of ground zero in New Jersey, which lost over 700 residents during the attacks.”
A close receptionist of the former President at the Trump National Golf Club declined to comment on the letter sent by the 9/11 Justice Group. The Saudi-backed LIV didn’t respond to any comment as of yet.
