Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says ‘we’re going to keep sending buses’ of migrants to D.C.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signaled his intention to continue sending migrants to Washington D.C. Abbott appeared on Fox News’ “Hannity” where he hit out at President Biden’s handling of the border and promised more buses would be dispatched.

“Believe me, we have more buses headed their way as we speak right now. But this just shows the hypocrisy of these liberal leaders up in the northeast who think that border crisis created by Joe Biden, that is fine as long as it’s Texas that has to deal with it,” Abbott said.

He continued, “But as soon as they have to deal with it the real confidence of the crisis, they are up in arms calling for the national guard as you point out dealing with just a tiny fraction of what we had to deal with every single day. We’re going to keep sending those buses up there until they fully understand and most importantly — until the Biden administration does its job to enforce the laws concerning the border.”

Abbott also announced on Twitter: “Texas border communities are overrun & overwhelmed, thanks to President Biden’s failed leadership to secure the border. Through #OperationLoneStar, we’re stepping up to protect Texans & Americans from this national crisis.”

Another busload of migrants arrived in D.C. on Tuesday night taking the total arrivals to 6100, Abbott’s spokesperson told the Texas Tribune.

Muriel Bowser, who is the mayor of Washington D.C., has requested assistance from the National Guard to deal with the arrival of migrants, which she has referred to as a “humanitarian crisis.”
Eric Adams has also expressed his concern about the number of migrants arriving from Texas and Arizona. Adams said both states were “cowards” and added that “we do not … send people away who are looking for help.”

Abbott invited both Adams and Bowser to visit the US-Mexico border. Adams’ spokesman, Fabien Levy, declined the offer.

“Instead of a photo-op at the border, we hope Governor Abbott will focus his energy and resources on providing support and resources to asylum seekers in Texas as we have been hard at work doing in New York City,” Levy said in a prepared statement. “We continue to work with federal partners to receive additional financial resources immediately but will never turn our backs on those in need who are arriving here.”
