Albuquerque police arrest man allegedly responsible for murders of four Muslim men
Albuquerque police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for the murders of four Muslim men in the city.
The suspect, who has not been named, is accused of killing the four men over the course of two days in early May.
Police say the killings were motivated by hatred and are treating them as hate crimes.
The victims – Imam Mahesh Kumar Sharma, 63, shopkeeper Abdul Razak Ali, 46, restaurateur Mohamed Rajabdeen Hussain, 59, and cab driver Mohammad Samiuddin – were all shot and killed within a span of 24 hours.
Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller said in a statement that the arrests “send a clear message that our city will not tolerate hate.”
“We are relieved that the primary suspect is in custody and we will continue to work with our federal and state partners on this investigation until all those responsible are held accountable,” Keller said.
The murders sparked fear and outrage among Albuquerque’s Muslim community, with many fearing they were being targeted because of their faith.
Albuquerque police chief Gorden Eden said at a news conference that the suspect had “expressed some hatred towards Muslims.”
“This individual is in custody and we believe he is the primary suspect,” Eden said. “However, this is an ongoing investigation.”
Eden said that investigators were looking into whether the killings were motivated by hate, but declined to speculate on a motive.

Unfortunately people need to learn Islam’s real history. Islam is a theocracy waging war for more than 1400 years to force people to worship the god Hubal. When people look at what happens when large number of Islam citizens are in a area they find the Islam citizens work hard to force Islam laws on everyone. Look at the what Islam citizens do around the world and violence Islam citizens do to non-Islam citizens. If this man is guilty he should be punished but an Islam citizen is allowed to anything they want to non-Islam citizens under the laws of Islam. People need to read the Qur’an. If someone wants to worship Hubal or the other 360 gods or goddesses of the Pantheon of gods led by Hubal that is one thing but no Islam citizen has fealty to the US.
The Arabic word “allah”, a contraction of “al ilah”, means “the god” in English and is used to reference Hubal who is associated with the moon.
