Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyers sue her for $878k in unpaid bills
The lawyers who represented former British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell during her recent travel have filed a lawsuit over nearly $900,000 in unpaid fees. The lawsuit has been filed against Maxwell herself, her husband and her brother.
Haddon, Morgan and Foreman, who are a law company based in Denver, stated that Kevin Maxwell was put in charge of paying legal fees in 2020. Despite the reported unpaid bills, Kevin Maxwell pressed the law firm to continue with appeals and laid the blame at the door of Maxwell’s husband, Scott Borgerson, for preventing payments being made, according to the lawsuit.
Laura Menninger and Jeffrey Pagliuca, who are lawers for Haddon, Morgan and Foreman, represented Ghislaine Maxwell during her trial in New York.
The lawsuit also alleged that Borgerson formed an LLC to buy real estate and protect his wife’s assets from creditors. In December, Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty of sex trafficking, transporting a minor to participate in illegal sex acts along with two other conspiracy charges. Maxwell was sentenced to 20-years in prison in June.
Maxwell addressed the victims and said she emphasized with them, however largely blamed Epstein, saying he was “a manipulative, cunning and controlling man who lived a profoundly compartmentalized life.” The judge poured water on this by saying that Maxwell was being sentenced for her own “heinous and predatory” crimes and not Epstein’s.
Maxwell is currently serving her sentence at FCI Tallahassee in Florida, which is a low-security prison.
Kevin Maxwell’s whereabouts remain unknown. In an email, Ghislaine’s other brother Ian Maxwell stated that no-one in the family would be willing to discuss the litigation.
