‘Euphoria’ actress Sydney Sweeney defends photos that appear to show her family wearing MAGA gear
Sydney Sweeney, an actress on the HBO hit series ‘Euphoria’, is defending photos she posted online that appear to show her family members dressed in conservative accessories.
The since-deleted photos Sweeney posted on Saturday were from her mother’s 60th birthday party, and showed family members wearing red baseball caps with white wording on the front that looked like Donald Trump’s trademark “Make America Great Again” hats. Others appeared to be wearing “Back the Blue” shirts, showing support for law enforcement.
Followers and Twitter users were quick to point out the apparel and its perceived political messages, accusing the actress of being a Trump supporter and of supporting alt-right beliefs.
In response, Sweeney made a separate Tweet defending her family and the photos. “You guys this is wild,” she wrote. “An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone and Happy Birthday Mom!”
Commenters were once again quick to pounce on the 24-year old star. Author Frederick Joseph wrote, “Assumptions? Don’t gaslight your fans (many are likely young progressive people based on the content of the show that gave you fame). Your family is obviously far-right based on the blue lives matter shirts and MAGA babies.”
Joseph also included two of Sweeney’s photos, one showing her family at the party with one man clearly wearing a “Back the Blue” t-shirt, and the other a photo of Trent Sweeney, a family member, holding a baby in a MAGA hat outside the White House.
Another commenter added, “Then you should’ve selected other pictures to post that wouldn’t be left up to interpretation in this manner. Lesson learned for you, I assume.”

The attacks are the standard type of attacks the “Left” always engage in. They hate anything that would undermine their agenda whether the intention is there or not there.
