AP Poll: President Biden’s approval rating rises to 45%

President Joe Biden’s approval rating has had a significant improvement from his lowest point this summer, however concerns about the current economy still remain, according to a poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Support for Biden has increased from 36% in July to 45%. Biden’s approval rating previously nose dived due to issues such as inflation and gas prices, however it has recovered just two months from the midterms.

Biden’s dissapproval rating still remains fairly high, with 53% of U.S. adults disapproving of the job hes’ doing, and the economy continues to chip away at Biden’s rating with only 38% of those polled in favour of his economic leadership as high inflation continues to cause households across the United States to look over their shoulders.

Average gas prices have also decreased by 26% since June to $3.71 a gallon, which has taken some of the pressure off family budgets.

Congress also passed a pair of landmark bills in the past month that could boost the economy and fight climate change.

Republicans have also faced their own problems after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, thus leaving abortion to be kept or banned by each state.

Biden continues to label former President Donald Trump and his supporters as a fundamental threat to democracy, a claim that has got more limelight after the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-A-Lago residence.

Biden is still seen by many voters as the lesser of two evils.

“I’m not under any belief that he’s the best person for the job — he’s the best from the people we had to choose from,” said Betty Bogacz, 74, a retiree from Portland, Oregon. “He represented stability, which I feel President Trump did not represent at all.”

Biden’s approval rating failed to exceed 40% in May, June or July as inflation skyrocketed after Russia declared war on Ukraine.

Interviews suggest a big reason for Biden’s rebound is the reemergence of Trump on the national stage, causing voters such as Stephen Jablonsky, who labeled Biden as “OK,” to say voting Democratic is a necessary task for the sake of the country.

“The country has a political virus by the name of Donald Trump,” said Jablonsky, who is a retired music professor from Stamford, Connecticut. “We have a man who is psychotic and seems to have no concern for law and order and democracy. The Republican Party has gone to a place that is so unattractive and so dangerous, this coming election in November could be the last election we ever have.”
