Report: Kanye West no longer interested in buying Parler
Kanye West, who is now legally known as Ye, has pulled the plug on his plan to buy Parler, the platform’s parent company confirmed on Thursday.
The announcement came not long after Ye went made questionable comments during his appearance on Alex Jones’ Infowars program on Thursday. Parler’s corporate owner said that the decision to terminate the deal was not based on recent comments by Ye and that Parlement Technologies and Ye both agreed to terminate the deal in November.
“Parlement Technologies has confirmed that the company has mutually agreed with Ye to terminate the intent of sale of Parler. This decision was made in the interest of both parties in mid-November,” a company spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday.
In October, George Farmer, who is the chief executive of the app’s parent company Parlement Technologies, said that Ye’s purchase “will change the world” and “change the way the world thinks about free speech.”
“Once again, Ye proves that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative. Parlement will be honored to help him achieve his goals,” Farmer said at the time.
“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” Ye said during a press conference while announcing the deal.
Ye has recently been condemned for comments he made on Thursday praising Adolf Hitler.
Among his various comments, Ye said said on Thursday: “I like Hitler,” “I love Jewish people, but I also love Nazis,” and “Every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler.”
