Colorado nightclub shooter faces 305 charges: ‘Probably the most charges that we’ve ever filed’

The suspect in last month’s mass shooting at a Colorado LGBTQ nightclub was charged on Tuesday with 305 criminal counts.
The alleged shooter, Anderson Lee Aldrich, faces charges ranging from first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder to assault and bias-motivated crimes, NBC News reported.
Aldrich is accused of killing five people and injuring 17 others on Nov. 19 at Club Q in Colorado Springs.
According to NBC, Army veteran Richard Fierro and Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Thomas James have been largely hailed as the ones who took Aldrich down, thereby saving many lives.
Aldrich’s lawyer clarified in court filings that Aldrich uses they/them pronouns. Police have not yet identified a motive in the attack.
District Attorney Michael Allen told reporters that he couldn’t recall a murder trial with as many charges as this.
“I think it’s probably the most charges that we’ve ever filed in a single case, on a murder case like this in the state of Colorado,” Allen said, adding that “there could be others out there that I’m just not thinking of right now.”
Lawyers on both sides have requested that the preliminary hearing be scheduled for May due to the size of the case.
