NYC university students demand refunds, ‘A’ grades after school faculty goes on strike

A group of students at New School in New York City have issued demands requesting that all students be granted “A” grades for their fall courses and tuition refunds, as university staff continues their monthlong strike.
The group of students protested in support of the New School’s adjunct faculty, who had gone on strike demanding higher wages. The strike ultimately ended on Dec. 10 after 25 days. However, sudents are now demanding “A” grades for their fall courses, the disbanding of the university’s board of trustees, and refund of their tuition.
The protesting students say that their list of demands have been “raised and accepted by consensus.”
The students would seek to replace the board of trustees with “a participatory process, as defined by the non-administrative TNS community” that can “be reviewed and/or recalled by the non-administrative TNS community at any time.”
“We demand that every student receives a final course grade of A … for the Fall 2022 semester,” the students demanded. “Attendance shall have no bearing on course grade. Grading shall not be conducted by anyone other than the official course instructor or teaching assistant, with no ‘Temporary Progress Reviewer’ allowed to grade students.”
They also called for the resignations of several senior administrators, including the university’s president.
