US Virgin Islands Governor fires AG days after she sued JP Morgan for allegedly aiding Jeffrey Epstein
The attorney general of the US Virgin Islands has been fired only days after she filed a lawsuit accusing JPMorgan Chase of aiding Jeffrey Epstein in his sex-trafficking scheme.
According to multiple reports, AG Denise George filed the lawsuit without notifying Virgin Islands Governor Albert Bryan first. While Bryan has confirmed firing George, he has not explicitly explained why he did so.
“I thank her for her service to the people of the territory during the past four years as attorney general and wish her the best in her future endeavors,” Bryan said in announcing that George would be ousted from her seat.
The lawsuit against JP Morgan was filed on Dec. 27. Among the allegations, George alleges the bank “knowingly facilitated, sustained, and concealed the human trafficking network operated by Jeffrey Epstein.”
She also claimed that the bank “turned a blind eye” to Epstein’s source of wealth.
George alleged that, for over a decade, the bank “financially benefitted” from Epstein’s crimes through “the deals and clients that Epstein brought and promised to bring to the bank.”
JP Morgan responded to the claims, telling finance news outlet Benzinga: “The company ended its relationship with Epstein long before his ongoing misconduct became known. Since then, JPMorgan Chase has cooperated with investigations into Epstein and others.”
