‘Bellyaching’: Democratic unity defending Biden begins to see defections

Democrats have found themselves on a collision course with each other as they attempt to discredit House Republicans who are planning to launch a myriad of investigations into both President Joe Biden and his family.

Biden was recently found to be in possession of classified documents that should have been returned to the White House when he left his position of Vice President.  Democrat lawmakers are making their feelings known about how Biden and his aides should have handled this situation.

David Brock, who is president of Facts First USA, stated that publicly criticizing Biden is playing in to the hands of House Republicans.

“My own view is that the anonymous Democrats who are doing that are actually forwarding a false, right-wing narrative and they should stop the bellyaching,” Brock said.

 “Democrats are not doing themselves a favor by anonymously criticizing the administration,” Brock went onto say.

Senator Joe Manchin (D-WVA) said that whole situation was “irresponsible.”

“To be held accountable and responsible is what we all are,” Manchin said. “And to put those in unsecured spaces is irresponsible.

“It’s just hard to believe that in the United States of America, we have a former president and a current president that are basically in the same situation. How does this happen?” he said, going onto say that he remembers being asked whether he was “clean” of secure documents when departing a department that holds sensitive information.

Neil Eggleston, who is aa former White House counsel under then-President Barack Obama, said that should further documents be discovered at more locations, this would make the whole situation being an honest mistake less credible.

“I hope all the places that could be searched have been searched and there is going to be no additional discovery of documents,” Eggleston said.

 “Every time there’s an additional discovery of documents, it makes it harder for President Biden to take the position that this is all ordinary and a mistake in the packing up process, which I ultimately think it is,” Eggleston went onto say.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) spoke of her frustration at the House Republicans obsession with investigating Biden and his family and her concerns that this has taken Republican focus away from core policies.

“I’ve been screaming from the rooftops about policy issues,” Mace said.

“Investigate the corruption, but also deliver on the substance: inflation, immigration and finding a middle ground” on abortion, she added. “If we don’t do that, we will lose the majority in two years. We will lose seats because of this,” Mace went on to say.
