Police arrest two suspects in California shootout
On Friday, two gang members were arrested following a shootout the Tulare County sheriff confirmed. The arrest was linked to the murder of 6 people, which included a baby, in a residence in central California. The shooting took place on Goshen, a town with a population of 3006 residents.
The victims of the shooting were confirmed as; Rosa Parraz, 72; Eladio Parraz, Jr., 52; Jennifer Analla, 49; Marcos Parraz, 19; Alissa Parraz, 16; and Nycholas Parraz, 10 months.
Sheriff Mike Boudreaux confirmed that Noah David Beard, 25, was taken into custody. The other suspect Angel “Nanu” Uriarte, 35, was wounded in the shootout with federal agents. Uriarte did require surgery, however, is now said to be stable and is expected to make a full recovery.
“I’m happy we were able to put these two men behind bars,” the sheriff said.
Authorities also confirmed that both suspects had been under round-the-clock surveillance since January 23rd.
The suspects and members of the victims’ family reportedly have a long history of gang violence but the motive for the shooting “is not exactly clear,” Boudreaux confirmed at a press conference at the sheriff’s headquarters in Visalia.
The Tulare County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that both suspects have been charged with six counts of murder and other lesser charges. If found guilty of all charges, both suspects face either the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Both suspects have a rap sheet, Beard’s rap sheet is largely juvenile convictions whereas Uriarte has one 2015 conviction for assault with a firearm.
