Additional classified document found by DoJ at Pence’s personal residence
Investigators from the Department of Justice recovered one additional classified document from the personal Indiana residence of former vice president Mike Pence this week in the latest incident of government information going amiss when former officials moved out of the White House.
The DoJ searched Pence’s Carmel, Indiana home in cooperation with Pence’s legal team, who notified the feds they had located twelve classified documents in the home three weeks ago. The Pence team turned the documents over and pledged to cooperate with any and all related investigations and searches.
The incident marks the latest in a string of classified documents that have been found at the homes and offices of former presidents and vice presidents including Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and now Pence. Biden and Pence have both been forthcoming with the finding of the documents in their possession, while Trump for months denied having possession of hundreds of documents from his time in the White House before federal officials raided Mar-a-Lago and located them.
A Pence advisor, Devin O’Malley, said in a statement the investigators found “one document with classified markings and six additional pages without such markings that were not discovered in the initial review by the vice president’s counsel,” during their search of Pence’s residence.
