Texas authorities search for mother accused of abandoning 2 children for nearly 2 months
Authorities in Texas have confirmed that a mother is wanted for abandoning her two children for nearly 2 months later in 2022.
Roman Forest, Texas, police confirmed that on Thursday they have issued an arrest warrant for Raven Yates for two counts of abandoning/endangering a child without the intent to return.
The father of the 12-year-old girl contacted police on November 14th 2022 expressing concerns that she had been left home alone with her 3-year-old brother.
The father, who lives out of state, travelled from California in November after his former mother-in-law reportedly saw her daughter, Yates, alone in Mobile, Alabama, police confirmed. He said that he became concerned after his daughter had regularly asking him for food.
Roman Forest Police Chief Stephen Carlisle spoke to ABC News in an interview that the father did not live at the house, but did pay the rent.
The father has relocated both children to Mobile Alabama, where they are now staying with their grandmother.
Police confirmed that they were unable to locate any food in the cabinets or fridge, but both children appeared to be in good health.
“I guess the 12-year-old was very resourceful. But she shouldn’t have had to do that,” Carlisle said.
Carlise confirmed that he believes Yates is currently in the Mobile area and has been active on her social media.
Mobile police did not respond to any requests for comment.
