Kamala Harris loses more appeal

As the Democratic National Convention is about to begin, Kamala Harris continues to lose appeal, and skewed polls won’t help.

On the eve of the Democratic National Convention, Vice-President Kamala Harris is clearly losing even more appeal every day. Weeks of dishonest push polling and puff pieces have not translated into rally attendance. Nor have voters in traditional Democratic constituencies warmed to Harris – and some flat-out call her a liar. The only way she wins the Election of 2024 (assuming Biden doesn’t crash the party tomorrow) is by cheating.

Kamala Harris was losing it three weeks ago

At the end of July, CNAV assessed Kamala Harris’ appeal, ten days after President Joe Biden quit the race. She had just held a rally in Atlanta – and attendees, after watching her hired headliners, walked out. Experienced newshounds were wondering then how the least popular Vice-President in history was now a heroine.

A few days later, the country knew how: Kamala Harris was buying influence on social media – and receiving in-kind contributions. Yesterday morning, Jim Hoft at The Gateway Pundit reported on one black activist who was having no more of it. Dr. Umar Johnson received a text message from the Harris campaign – offering him $10,000 for an interview. He sent in a high-resolution screencap of his text exchange.

Hoft also provided transcripts:

HARRIS CAMPAIGN: Hello Dr. Umar Johnson. [redacted] from the Harris2024 team. You are a big part of the black community. Can you help us by completing a Zoom meeting with VP Kamala Harris. Paying [redacted] are looking for about an hour of your time. Please advise if you would like to complete the Zoom call. Your help can get us across the finish line. HARRIS2024.

DR. JOHNSON: Peace & PanAfrikanism. I hope that all is well. I’m not interested in your money. However, I am very interested in having the zoom conversation with Vice President Harris to discuss our needs and her plans for the Black community. This zoom must be livecasted to the national Black community and may not be prerecorded.

I promise to be completely respectful of the Vice President but I will ask direct questions about miseducation, mass incarceration, police brutality, economic strangulation, gentrification/ migrant crisis, reparations & and the need for a federal anti-Black Hate Crimes Bill.

Johnson went further. He publicly accused Kamala Harris of using “Democrat Plantation tactics” to secure the black vote. In fact he said flat-out:

Black votes ain’t for sale no more.

On the same day those posts came out, Mike LaChance (TGP) reviewed the quality (or lack thereof) of polling. Newsweek, for example, was actually predicting that Kamala Harris could flip Texas. TownHall.com put that into proper perspective:

If Democrats have a political unicorn regarding the Electoral College, it’s Texas. How often have we heard that Texas is turning blue, and Republicans win every time on Election Day? Wendy Davis, who led the abortion filibuster that elevated her profile in 2013, was supposed to win the 2014 gubernatorial race, remember? Democrats thought there were shy Democrats that dotted the suburbs of the state, hiding like the Viet Cong until that cycle. That was brutally wrong, as Davis barely broke 40 percent of the vote. With Kamala Harris, we’re back to these same games.

Wendy Davis literally catheterized herself before taking the floor of the Texas Senate in the incident to which Townhall referred.

Fake polling – and real numbers

More to the point, Newsweek’s story contradicted its headline. A University of North Texas professor predicted that Texas would not be in play. So did two of his colleagues, one at North Texas and the other at Rice University in Houston. Yet Newsweek still spun a tale. Nor were they the only ones. The Hill indulged in a similar flight of fancy.

Reality tells a different story. Activist Scott Pressler has been running a quiet voter-registration drive in Pennsylvania. Four times as many Republicans as Democrats have registered to vote this summer.

Also last Thursday (August 15), John Stossel shared video of a focus group rejecting a recent Harris proposal. She proposes price controls on food, to combat “corporate price gouging.”

That focus group consisted of high-school students, all of whom reminded her that high prices help producers satisfy demand.

And apparently even The Washington Post couldn’t stomach an idea they admitted came from communism. That tells CNAV that their editorial board has zero confidence in either becoming, or landing a contract from, a hyothetical Department of Information (not Technology) in a Harris-Walz administration. That they would never sign onto a communist solution strains credulity – they are, after all, The Washington Post. Which means they are Pravda West.So either they don’t think she’ll win, or don’t think she would appoint them if she did. Or they think she’s too stupid to build a Soviet-style State Planning Commission (Gosplan in Russian).

Even the rabid activists are running scared

Surely one expects a dedicated leftist activist like Michael Moore to beat the drums and “fake it ‘til they make it.” Not this time – he’s scared. Breitbart ran an interview with him, in which he urged Kamala Harris to go hard left. That includes full support for HAMAS in the Fourth Arab-Israeli War, taxpayer assumption of student debt, and a full-on anti-white-male agenda. “This country is female,” he says – echoing movie producer Kathleen Kennedy saying the Star Wars Force is female. Nevertheless, he said, “[I]t’s ours to blow – and we have a history of blowing it.” Not exactly an expression of confidence.

Last Friday (August 16) she doubled down on her price-control idea. But what rates even stronger mention is that she attracted only 250 people. Also on Friday, MSNBC held a focus group of “Generation Z” voters. To the shock of organizers, they slammed the high prices they have to pay for rent and food. And they blamed Biden and Harris for their plight, since they, after all, lead the administration.

In sharp contrast, Trump is packing them in. He held a big rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and drew a crowd so large that people waited for hours to get in.

Don Lemon interviewed voters in New Jersey – and most of his subjects support Trump, not Harris.

Then, of course, came Elon Musk’s interview with Trump on X. It reached nearly a billion people – most of them in the very demographic Kamala Harris needs.

Kamala Harris still can’t reach the crowds

Stories appearing today tell the same story. In Wisconsin, ABC News found out the hard way that many black voters support Trump. One voter accused Kamala Harris of lying – and stealing Trump’s no-tax-on-tips idea.

In other Wisconsin news, the Milwaukee Police Association endorsed the Trump-Vance ticket today.

Harris and running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) arrived in Pittsburgh today to start a bus trip through western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and northern Illinois. Apparently the event continued the pattern of low attendance.

That last post contrasts the tiny crowd at the Harris-Walz event with the thousands of attendees in Wilkes-Barre. Note carefully: no one dared drape that mezzanine!

The Convention begins tomorrow – and apparently Democrats know that their biggest crowd will be pro-HAMAS protesters. In fact they literally are planning to wall them out!

If only for the anticipated protest crowds, this Convention should be an interesting show.
