The Psychotic American Left

The American left is suffering from a collective psychotic breakdown following the electoral victory of Donald J. Trump.

The Psychotic American Left

As everyone knows by now, Donald J. Trump won reelection in an Election Season ending two days ago. Obviously he becomes the second President to serve two nonconsecutive terms (the first was Democrat Grover Cleveland). Equally obviously, the American left, always neurotic, now has become psychotic. The left dropped a hint of this psychosis 52 years ago. Today this psychosis is as intense as it was in 1972, but sadly, much more widespread. That will prove the greatest challenge for Donald J. Trump and his team.

Results

By now, according to Ballotpedia, Daily Wire, and other sources:

  • Donald Trump won the electoral vote, 312 to 226, but also won the popular vote, 73 million to 68 million. The total popular vote is 15 million fewer than in 2020. Trevor Noah, who runs the We Love Trump newsletter, cites this as prima facie evidence of electoral fraud in 2020.
  • Republicans definitely will have a 52-seat majority in the United States Senate. They picked up seats in West Virginia, Ohio, and Montana. Dale McCormick, the Republican, leads in Pennsylvania. The Democrat leads in Arizona – though that’s shrinking – and the Democrats kept Nevada.
  • Control of the House of Representatives technically remains to decide. At present Republicans have won 213 seats outright, and Democrats 200. (Republican wins include Rep.-elect Ryan MacKenzie of Pennsylvania.) Of 22 races remaining to decide, Republicans lead in at least eight, including four in California alone. (But in some of these races, “jungle primaries” returned two Republicans, so the affiliations are already decided.)
  • Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R-N.C.) did not win his bid to become Governor. This is one of three instances of known ticket-splitting, the others being Democrats keeping Senate seats in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Psychotic and neurotic – what’s the difference?

As your editor has said before, he has a medical degree. Part of earning that is a Core Clinical Clerkship in Psychiatry, and courses in psychiatric clinical science. Medical students learn, by their second year, how to tell psychotic from neurotic patients, and see it first-hand next year. Both kinds of people short-circuit themselves with wrongheaded thinking about the world around them. But a neurotic at least knows that something’s wrong with the way he thinks, though he doesn’t know quite what. A psychotic really believes what he thinks, and refuses to acknowledge any fault of his own, or flaw in his understanding of the real world.

In the extreme case, a psychotic doesn’t even consider anything or any-one real except himself. This is close to the philosophical school called solipsism, which holds that nothing is provably real except one’s own mind. (Latin solus, -a, -um alone and ipsus, -a, -um self). The difference is that the psychotic believes in his solipsistic position and accepts no evidence to the contrary.

Solipsism doesn’t seem to be at work in the American left. But paranoia does. Paranoiacs believe that they are the greatest inventions since sliced bread – and when they fail, that failure traces to the wrong acts – or wrong thinking – of others. Never once does a paranoiac consider that his own ideas, plans, or acts might have caused his own failure. Such is the psychosis that grips the American left today.

Examples of the psychotic thinking and behavior on the left

Examples of psychotic behavior on the left abound. The Western Journal and The Gateway Pundit have the best descriptions of these examples. In no particular order:

The hostesses of ABC-TV’s The View dressed in black – for mourning – except for Whoopi Goldberg, who dressed in gray-tan. WJ’s Samuel Short describes black hostess Sunny Hostin’s reaction. She blamed “uneducated white women” and “Latino men” for voting against what she called their self-interest.

Black women tried to save this country again last night. What we did not have is white women — who voted about 52%. Right? For Donald Trump — uneducated white women. It’s my understanding you have Latino men actually voting more for him. So why do you think that uneducated white women voted against their reproductive health freedoms? And why do you think Latino men, voted in favor of someone that’s going to deport them? Sunni Hostin

She also denied that Kamala Harris’ loss had anything to do with policy.

Bryan Chai reported that several celebrities were having obvious psychotic breakdowns after the calling of the race. He left these examples:

Why? Give me your reasons why????? My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why?And if you disagree , please unfollow me. Christina Applegate

Ms. Applegate deleted the post, but the Wayback Machine captured it here.

Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah that. Unfollow me because what you did is unreal. Don’t want followers like this. So yeah. Done. Also after today I will be shutting down this fan account that I have had for so many years because this is sick. Christina Applegate

Great job giving the MAGA gang more power, America. Wonder how many folks are seeing this and STILL saying “But but but at least he’s not a Black woman!” in the privacy of their homes tonight. My heart is broken 💔 Sophia Bush

In that last, Ms. Bush quote-posted a post reporting on the arrest of Jason Yates, head of My Faith Votes. Mr. Yates had a stash of child-porn images on a hard drive on his office computer. Apparently a relative found those, and another relative handed the drive to police. Sadly, those struggling with Lust or Greed often gravitate to conservative politics to hide their bents. But Ms. Bush tries to pretend, without evidence, that all of Trump’s supporters are like Mr. Yates.

John Cusack apparently reposted every wild anti-Trump post he could dredge up, according to a review of his account. This included this article by Chris Hedges, calling for a general strike.

We must invest our energy into organizing mass movements to overthrow the corporate state through sustained acts of mass civil disobedience. This includes the most powerful weapon we possess – the strike. By turning our ire on the corporate state, we name the true sources of power and abuse. We expose the absurdity of blaming our demise on demonized groups such as undocumented workers, Muslims or Blacks. We give people an alternative to a corporate-indentured Democratic Party that cannot be rehabilitated. We make possible the restoration of an open society, one that serves the common good rather than corporate profit. We must demand nothing less than full employment, guaranteed minimum incomes, universal health insurance, free education at all levels, robust protection of the natural world and an end to militarism and imperialism. We must create the possibility for a life of dignity, purpose and self-esteem. If we do not, it will ensure a Christianized fascism and ultimately, with the accelerating ecocide, our obliteration.

Then came these:

Supreme Court gone for the rest of my lifetime. Ultra-conservative evangelical bigotry, xenophobia, racism is the mandate. Actor Kevin McHale (not to be confused with the Boston Celtics player)

The privilege of celebrating rn is exactly what’s wrong with us as people. I am truly worried about my fundamental human rights. Racism, misogyny, and hatred of women are so deeply rooted into everything that is America. Until we fix the roots…it will never grow. Natasha Cloud

Joyless Reid goes off again

C. Douglas Golden reported on the inevitable decompensation of MSNBC’s Joy (“Joyless”) Reid. She especially accused Texas of “rampant voter suppression,” especially of minority voters.

Texas actually removed nearly half a million names of dead or moved-out voters from its rolls. Furthermore, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) captured 13 percent of the black vote and 52 percent of the Latino vote.

In that same vein, Bryan Chai reported on the spectacle of Jen Psaki swallowing her gorge to announce the “call” of the race for Trump.

NBC News can now project that Donald Trump has won the state of Wisconsin, which means he is the winner of this race and will return to the White House as this country’s 47th president. And for so many of you watching right now, that news is, to say the least, a lot to digest. Um … I understand that personally.

Jen Psaki

Christina Laila of TGP reported on this conversation between “Morning Joe” Scarborough and The Rev. Al Sharpton.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough says that Kamala Harris lost to Donald Trump because blacks and Latinos are sexist and Latinos are racist: “A lot of Hispanic voters have problems with black candidates.” Al Sharpton says black men are among “the most” sexist people.

Not everyone is psychotic – examples of realistic behavior

Not every opponent of Donald Trump showed such psychotic reactions. Consider these examples of hard realism:

Special Counsel Jack Smith, apparently under instruction from Attorney General Merrick Garland, will seek dismissal of his cases against Trump. As Randy DeSoto (WJ) reports, Smith will file a motion to dismiss the January 6 Case with Judge Tanya Chutkan of the D.C. District Court. Judge Aileen Cannon of the Florida Southern District Court has already dismissed the Documents Case. She cited a key flaw in Smith’s appointment that made it unconstitutional. Smith appealed that to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, but will likely withdraw that appeal.

Likewise, the Assistant United States Attorney prosecuting Annie Vo for entering the Capitol with permission, has withdrawn from the case. (Source: Jim Hoft, The Gateway Pundit.) Hoft suggested that Judge Tanya Chutkan – who has that case in her court – should somehow “face justice.” The only justice for a sitting federal judge, is removal from the bench through impeachment.

This morning, C. Douglas Golden reported that Basem Naomi, member of the HAMAS Politburo, now wants to negotiate with Israel. That’s how Golden reads between the lines of Naomi’s statement after the election.

And Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) scathingly indicted the Democratic Party, blaming them for their loss and being out-of-touch. Jim Hoft provided a full transcript.

It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them. while the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they’re right. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.)

Yesterday, Lanny Davis criticized the Democrats for alienating people with intolerant attitudes and wild, discomfiting ideologies. As examples, he cited men in women’s sports, and line-breaking by hordes of migrants.

What happens next?

Erick-Woods Erickson, who never recognizes a biased poll, nor any hazard of election fraud, dropped some unsolicited advice for Democrats:

[F]ire and ban from politics any person who has ever, unironically, uttered or written the word Latinx [rhymes with Kleenex®].

Presumably that would include Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). Leaving her aside, the Democrats are in a mood to blame one another. Shortly after Kamala Harris conceded defeat, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) exchanged some heated words with old Democratic lioness Donna Brazile.

Exactly what appointment Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will hold in the second Trump administration, no one has said. He can’t have any real authority unless he appears before the Senate for confirmation to an authoritative position. But he did say, in an MSNBC interview, that he would see to three objectives:

President Trump has asked me to do three things:

1. Clean up the corruption in our government health agencies.

2. Return those agencies to their rich tradition of gold-standard, evidence-based science.

3. Make America Healthy Again by ending the chronic disease epidemic.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Already he has promised to de-fluoridate the country’s public water supplies.

All joking aside, Mr. Kennedy is correct. In any case, Jim Hoft reports that the CEOs of the five largest drug companies held an emergency teleconference yesterday. New Jersey Assemblyman Jamal Holley, a friend of Kennedy, boasted about that.

Sources tell me top five CEOs of pharmaceutical companies are holding an emergency teleconference at 1 PM. A lawyer has confirmed that everyone is in a state of panic! Jamal Holley

Christina Laila reports that Joe Biden suddenly looks happier than ever. She renewed the speculation that Biden had deliberately sabotaged the Harris campaign, as his revenge after Democrats cast him aside. His happy attitude shone forth in a post-election speech:

But the Governors of California and Massachusetts have already announced plans to defy Trump next year. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) has called a special legislative session, and Gov. Maura Healey (D-Mass.) promised “executive action” to shield “criminal aliens.” Stay tuned; these matters will go to court.
