Obama ad hits a new low
If you believe there’s no such thing as bad publicity, then maybe you will believe the new Obama ad, “Your First Time,” isn’t totally bad. Usually campaign ads focus on hitting a target of some kind. The new Obama ad hits a target all right – a new low.
What’s in the Obama ad?
In a recent ad released by the campaign and approved by the man himself (“I’m Barack Obama, and I approved this message”), Lena Dunham, a young actress, equates voting for Obama to losing one’s virginity. The Obama ad carries the titled “Your First Time.” And it is the first time such a revealing debacle is on display for all the world to see. It tells us more about Obama’s disdain for women than he would like us to understand.
At the outset, Ms. Dunham starts to imply that your first time should be with someone who is “beautiful.” Even if I agreed (which I don’t), suggesting that women vote for someone based on their appearance is more than insulting – as is the rest of the Obama ad. Equally outrageously, the Obama ad says you should vote for Obama because he cares about and understands women. Of course the facts tell a different story – women at the White House get 18% less pay than their male counterparts. Then Ms. Dunham repeats the old mantra about health care and birth control. Well, Mr. Obama, if women had jobs, chances are they would have health care and would be able to afford the $9 a month for birth control.
What the Obama ad says about the Obama attitude
So, what does this ad and his history tell us about the way Obama “feels” about women?
- They vote on appearance and not substance (which is also the way they chose sexual partners);
- They care more about sex and birth control than earning a living;
- In short – they are ditzes, incapable of intellectually assessing a situation.
This Obama ad is as tasteless and inappropriate at the Obama administration itself. I find it insulting as both a woman and as a mother. And the Administration would have us believe that Romney is a woman-hater? Perhaps this is just another instance of throwing off on your opponent – that is, accusing him of the sins you are guilty of yourself. If women were as ditzy as the Obama administration believes, he wouldn’t be dropping in the polls among this demographic as he is.
The Obama ad – a political debacle and more
The “Your First Time” ad was more than a political debacle. It was a revelation about how the man now occupying the White House really regards women. And by the way, if women were really voting based on looks, in my opinion, Romney would leave Obama in the dust. Maybe Mr. Obama is as blind as he is incompetent.
Regardless, this ad actually tells women why they shouldn’t vote for Obama – not why they should.
Editor’s note: Here is the Obama ad. WARNING! This ad treats a mature theme in a decidedly immature way. Parental judgment and discretion are advised.
