Bearcats and cops: connected

A Nashville Sheriff's Police Bearcat. Sign of militarized police and maybe overweaning government.

Disturbing information has surfaced regarding MRAP and BearCat military vehicles being used to patrol the streets of our local communities – some with populations under 7,000. The MRAPs (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles) were designed to survive improvised explosive device attacks and ambushes. The BearCats (Ballistic Engineered Armoured Response Counter Attack Trucks, a product of the Lenco corporation) are a subset of MRAPs. They have seen service in special weapons and tactics (SWAT) squads, homeland security, counter-terrorism, force protection, and military policing missions. Willing police departments and sheriffs’ offices have enjoyed their new free toys without giving a thought to any strings that may be attached in the future but the protesting citizens (now labeled as “domestic terrorists” in Concord, NH) view these vehicles as highly objectionable and intimidating.

The new Bearcat – not your friendly neighborhood cops

These “gifts” to the towns are courtesy of the military under the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 1997 and through the Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) Title 10 USC, Section 257A, http://www.dispositionservices.dla.mil/leso/Pages/default.aspx. Their website reads as follows:

The Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO), the facilitators of 1033 program, originated from the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 1997 (FY97). This law allows for the office to transfer excess Department of Defense property to law enforcement agencies across the United States and its territories.

Since its inception, the 1033 program has transferred more than $4.3 billion worth of property. In 2013 alone, $449,309,003.71 worth of property was transferred to law enforcement.

If your law enforcement agency chooses to participate, it may become one of the more than 8,000 participating agencies to increase its capabilities, expand its patrol coverage, reduce response times, and save the American taxpayer’s investment.

Let me remind you that this is the same military that has been sequestered by POTUS and is being cut down to pre-World War II size – all in the name of financial responsibility. Only in a warped government does giving away $4.3 billion worth of taxpayer’s investments in the time of fiscal crisis equate to a badge of honor.

While all this may seem just plain stupid but harmless, let me remind you that the USA-PATRIOT Act once seemed harmless. Now we know that this paved the way for the NSA to spy on all our citizens – although we were reassured that would not happen. And in case you think the citizens in the towns, cities and municipalities that have acquired these vehicles are over-reacting, take a look at the vehicles in question and ask yourself if you would be concerned if you saw one of these patrolling your local streets.

More than physical intimidation

But there may be more to be alarmed about than just the physical intimidation these vehicles provide. In an article I wrote a while back entitled May Day I reported the following that bears repeating:

One such patriot is Nicholas Purpura- a Jersey resident and someone I am proud to call “friend.” This week, Nick wrote a very disturbing article entitled Obama’s Illegal Armyi. In and of itself, the article would send shivers up and down any true patriot’s spine, but when coupled with other disturbing facts, it should make you want to shout May Day! May Day! May Day! to just about anyone who will listen.

Some of the disturbing points made in Obama’s Illegal Army, are related to the unconstitutionality of Obama creating a Civilian National Security Force under his exclusive control in HR3590 – otherwise known as the “Affordable Care Act.” In the article, Purpura also quoted a statement made by Obama in a speech on July 2, 2008, in which he said:

We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set.”

In the speech Obama went on to say:

“We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”

In addition to creating this unconstitutional civilian national security force by inserting its provision into ObamaCare, he has also fired a good number of experienced military leaders in all branches of our service. According to a recent article posted in the Drudge Report, the tally over the past few years is staggering. Some put it at 157 plus, Purpura reported it to be well over 200. This is a one/two punch for law-abiding patriots (otherwise referred to as “terrorists”). The man now occupying the White House has gutted our legitimate army and is stealthily creating his own. If you think it through, you should be starting to shout May Day just about now.

Let me sum up:

  1. Intimidating military vehicles are being disbursed throughout the nation, while at the same time our gun rights are being assaulted on almost a daily basis.

In Nordyke v. King, Justice Ronald M. Gould held:

The right to bear arms is a bulwark against external invasion. We should not be overconfident that oceans on our east and west coasts alone can preserve security. We recently saw in the case of the terrorist attack on Mumbai that terrorist may enter a country covertly by ocean routes, landing in small craft and then assembling to wreak havoc. That we have a lawfully armed populace adds a measure of security for all of us and makes less likely that a band of terrorists could make headway in an attack on any community before more professional forces arrived. Second, the right to bear arms is a protection against the possibility that even our own government could degenerate into tyranny, and though this may seem unlikely, this possibility should be guarded against with individual diligence. (Emphasis added)

  1. The Patriot Act seemed harmless a while back with its intentions being to control terrorism, now we know it paved the way for the NSA to spy on all American citizens.

  2. The man now occupying the White House is systematically gutting our military of honorable leaders while building his unconstitutional Civilian National Security Force.

  3. Our own citizens have been labeled as “domestic terrorists.”

Additionally, there have been many reports nationwide that foreign troops have been training on American soil, as well as evidence that Al Qaeda has been entering illegally through our southern borders – or should I say our “southern open gate.”

This Lenco Bearcat is the newest acquisition of the St. Petersburg (Florida) Police Department.

When you put all of this together, the possibilities for declaring martial law and thus enabling an unimaginable government power grab seems almost inevitable. And should that happen, all these MRAPS and BearCats will make it virtually impossible for average Americans to defend themselves – regardless of the firearms they may have at their disposal. One of the arguments against restricting our right to bear arms has always been that American citizens should be able to own firearms as powerful and as effective as those owned by the military. In 2014 that may no longer be possible.

As we pay attention to every breaking news story that fills the air waves, I have yet to hear any mention of the MRAPS and BearCats that have been disbursed nationwide. I can only hope that we are not like the Pharisees in Israel at the time of Christ – those men who strained gnats and swallowed camels. Benghazi, the VA, our national debt, ObamaCare, trading the Taliban 5 for Bergdahl, Fast and Furious, NSA spying, the IRS scandal, the horrific debacle happening on our southern borders, Agenda 21, the UN Treaty on the Rights of the Child, etc., etc., etc. may all pale in comparison to the day they take our guns away riding on MRAPS and BearCats.

It may be time for a lot of things in America, but let’s start by connecting the dots. Then, maybe, if we figure out what’s going on and collectively fight the traitor in the White House and his cronies, we may have a chance of surviving as the land of the free. If not, look for me in a FEMA camp somewhere – that is if any of us survive martial law.

That’s right. I even know some of them. They’re what’s generally referred to as “NATO allies.” I note that US troops regularly train in my own country. It’s not a problem. In fact your military seem quite keen on it. Guess why foreign troops train in the USA? Because your army INVITES THEM.

“all these MRAPS and BearCats will make it virtually impossible for average Americans to defend themselves – regardless of the firearms they may have at their disposal.”

Oh my.

If it’s martial law you’re worried about then the gnat you’re straining at is a few MRAPs in police markings. Under martial law you’d be facing actual military vehicles. Trust me, no firearm you can buy is going to help you against an M1A1. A civilian population going up against a professional military is toast, even if everyone has a stars’n’stripes-painted AR15 stashed under their bed. That’s because you’re NEVER going to have weapons as powerful as the military does. Think your armed population is going to stand up to 155mm artillery or attack helicopters? Think again.

All this fuss about armoured police vehicles is just silly. Ever stop to think that maybe the police wouldn’t need them if there weren’t so many crazies out there who want to shoot at them?

Stop worrying about “defending” yourself and get a life. That’s my advice. The paranoia infecting the USA is ridiculous and dangerous. The person your legally owned gun is most likely to kill? You.
