CNBC Debate: Cruz breaks up MSM – Unifies Candidates
Sen. Ted Cruz clobbered the moderators of the CNBC debate on Wednesday October 28 when he was asked a ‘gotcha’ question, but instead of taking the bait, he began to rebuke the CNBC inquisitors.
Ted Cruz to debate panel: get a life!
Cruz said, “The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don’t trust the media. This is not a cage match. And you look at the questions – ‘Donald Trump, are you a comic book villain?’ ‘Ben Carson, can you do math?’ ‘John Kasich, will you insult two people over here?’ ‘Marco Rubio, why don’t you resign?’ ‘Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?’ How about talking about the substantive issues people care about?”
The crowd responded with the loudest and most exuberant outburst of applause in the entire debate.
Following the Texas Senators scathing rebuke the candidates stopped lobbing remarks at each other and even seemed to be more cordial than before. They began to commend and occasionally support each other’s remarks.
This was Barack Obama in reverse – Cruz showed that quality we have missed in the last seven years – the ability to unify.
The next endless debate now begins across the news cycles regarding who won the debate in total. For this writer it was Ted Cruz hands down.
A scorecard
Going over each candidates answers would require more words than this article could abide. For the sake of both economy and fairness I have described in a single word what each candidate deserves for a one word critique of their entire demeanor at this critical debate.
We must remember that this contest is to choose a candidate for the important job of leading our nation out of the long dark period known as the Obama administration. The only acceptable word to win this debate in my humble opinion is this – presidential!
Let’s see.
- Sen. Ted Cruz – presidential
- Donald Trump – noisy
- Dr. Ben Carson – sincere
- Sen. Marco Rubio – patriotic
- Jeb Bush – dependable
- Carly Fiorina – strong
- Gov. Mike Huckabee – intuitive
- Gov. Cris Christie – lawman
- Gov. John Kasich – competent
- Sen. Rand Paul – enduring
Cringe-worthy statements
Some statements were fraught with personality revealing phrases and keywords to make us cringe.
Donald Trump’s “I will never forgive them” was a bloated and obvious contradiction coming from a man who asserted that the Bible was his favorite book. The entire message of the New Testament is about forgiving and being forgiven.
Gov. Huckabee’s analogy about the recent runaway blimp being like the government will forever be listed among the most classic of all replies in answer to the failure of big government,
Carly Fiorina’s description of her job requirements at HP was amazing. How could one little woman handle a CEO position that seems better suited for superwoman than a mere business woman. The word incredible goes here.
Governor Kasich showed he is savvier on the repair of our economy than anyone and has the record to back it up.
Marco Rubio’s remarks about how he doesn’t like anything that hurts his mom and the story of his family’s struggle to become Americans was deeply endearing. He is the very definition of a patriot.
Senator Cruz comes out in many areas as the best of the best for the most obvious reasons. His ten percent flat tax rate and the abolishment of the IRS got a strong audience response because everyone in this nation knows it is long overdue. He is a soldier who has for a long time already been in the fight against the status quo – he is not just making promises.
Cruz is an offering and an opportunity to help us transition out of the Obama years and swiftly save what is left to our nation. We can only hope that we will not be those who can see the “south wind” but not much more.
“And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?” (Lu 12: 55-56)
