Trump supporter who organized buses to DC sentenced in Capitol riot case

On Monday, a January 6 defendant was sentenced to 60 days in prison for his role in the riot. Prosecutors said Frank Scavo had a “front-row seat” to the events that took place at the U.S. Capitol.
Scavo, a Trump supporter from Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in September, as he organized busses that transported about 200 people to Washington, R.C., on January 6. The plea agreement included a cooperation provision, so Scavo handed over video footage that he filmed while inside the Capitol on the day of the riot.
Scavo spoke before his sentencing, saying his “small size” blocked his view of what was going on around him. He also called January 6 a “dark day” in the nation’s history, adding that he wanted to make amends for his actions.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth Meinero, a federal prosecutor, told Judge Royce Lamberth: “He should have known better [than] to have entered the Capitol. Meinero added that Scavo had a “front-row seat” to the chaos that ensued.
In their sentencing memo, prosecutors said that Scavo posted a political carton to his Facebook page that depicted him driving a “Sedition Express” bus to Capitol Hill. In comments on the post, he also called himself a “Capitol tour guide.”
So far, 650 defendants have been arrested in connection with the January 6 incident, which represents about one-fourth of the total number of potential people who engaged in chargeable conduct that day. The FBI is still hunting down over 350 people who allegedly took part in the rush on the Capitol but have not yet been arrested.
That number includes over 250 members of the pro-Trump group who have been accused of assaulting members of law enforcement. Some online sleuths in the “Sedition Hunters” community identified many of the rioters that have not yet been charged.
