Denver school board receives bomb threat, moves meeting to secured location
The Cherry Creek School Board in Denver, Colorado, was forced to move its recently scheduled in-person meeting to Zoom due to a bomb threat received by the board by an anonymous caller.
The board met in a secured location and allowed those who wished to attend to join virtually on Monday night after a “perceived” bomb threat by “an individual with a documented criminal history,” district officials said.
Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office was informed of the threat and was gearing up to provide security for the meeting, but were called off after the meeting was moved to a virtual format.
Several other school boards in the area have been the target of violent threats recently. Jefferson County Public Schools nearby held a secured meeting this week due to a credible threat made against the superintendent and other board members. The phone message threatening the leaders mentioned displeasure over the schools’ masking policy.
The threats follow death threats against Littleton School District leaders over a school board-sponsored COVID-19 vaccine clinic.
