Convicted child molester caught bragging about light sentence as Los Angeles District Attorney faces recall

26-year-old transgender sex offender Hannah Tubbs was caught gloating over a light sentence and made crude remarks about her 10-year-old victim in new jailhouse recordings obtained by Fox News.

In 2014, 17-year-old James Tubbs grabbed a 10-year-old girl by the throat at a Denny’s in Palmdale, California, and sexually assaulted her in a bathroom stall. Since the sexual assault in 2014, Tubbs has transitioned to Hannah Tubbs.

“I’m gonna plead out to it, plead guilty,” Tubbs says in one recording. “They’re gonna stick me on probation, and it’s gonna be dropped, it’s gonna be done, I won’t have to register, won’t have to do nothing.”

“You won’t have to register?” Tubbs’ father asked. “I won’t have to do none of that,” Tubbs replied. “So, what are they going to do to you then?” Tubbs (laughing) answers “Nothing.” Fox News reporter Bill Melugin said Tubbs’ crude, sexual remarks about her 10-year-old victim were “unfit to print.”

Tubbs’ victim released the following statement; “The things he did to me and made me do that day was beyond horrible for a ten-year-old girl to have to go through,” she said. “I want him tried as an adult for the crimes he committed against me.”

She said the light sentence was offensive and hurtful and offered her “no true justice.” She added, “I’ve also heard that my attacker goes by she/them pronouns now. I see it also unfair to try him as a woman as well, seeing how he clearly didn’t act like one on January 1st of 2014.”

This news comes amid efforts to recall Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón. Gascón has come under fire from critics for his progressive agenda that has included directives against seeking the death penalty and dropping sentence-enhancing allegations in some criminal cases.

According to court documents, Tubbs was diagnosed with numerous mental illnesses, which could qualify him for “developmentally disabled,” and it was something that Gascón took into account during sentencing.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Gascón was also concerned about Tubbs being victimized as a transgender female if placed in an adult facility, and opted instead for a juvenile facility where Tubbs could get mental health treatment.

In light of the incident, Gascón said that his office has “now implemented policies to create a different pathway for outlier cases while simultaneously creating protections to prevent these exceptions from becoming the rule.”
