A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll showed people in the United States are unhappy with the government and with the way their fellow Americans have handled the pandemic and everything that came with it in the last two years.

The poll of 1,623 adults in the United States showed 43 percent feel “worse” now about their “fellow Americans.” Only 10 percent said they feel “better” about their countrymen.

Their outlook on the government is not much better, as only 16 percent of those polled said they felt “better” about the Federal government now than they did before the pandemic, while 44 percent said they felt “worse.”

When it comes to public health, Republicans said they had lost confidence in public health departments and vaccines, while Democrats responded saying they had gained more confidence in institutions like the CDC and public health officials.

Overall, only 14 percent of respondents said they are “better off” now than they were at the start of the pandemic. In contrast, 35 percent say they are “worse off” than they were at the start of 2020.
