Mexican President blasts U.S. border control after 50 migrants die in tractor-trailer in Texas
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador sharply criticized what he says is a lack of effectiveness of US border control. Lopez Obrador’s comments come days after a truck full of dead migrants was discovered in San Antonio.
In a press briefing this week at the beginning of Lopez Obrador’s five-day tour of several Central and South American countries, the president brought up the 50 deaths in Texas. “It happens because there is trafficking of people and a lack of control, in this case at the Mexican-US border, but also in the US interior,’’ he said.
Lopez Obrador also expressed his frustration at the United States’ lack of commitment to improving conditions in Central and South American countries in order to curb migration to the north. He noted that the US government has already sent $30 billion to Ukraine since February but still has yet to make good on promises to invest in Central and South American development initiatives.
Speaking specifically of his pet project to plant trees in Guatemala, the Mexican president said, “They are different things and they shouldn’t be compared categorically, but they have already approved $30 billion for the war in Ukraine, while we have been waiting since President Donald Trump, asking they donate $4 billion, and as of today, nothing, absolutely nothing.”
“Honestly, it seems inexplicable. For our part, we are going to continue to respectfully insist on the need for the United States to collaborate,” he added.
Lopez Obrador is joined by some Republican leaders in the United States in his criticism of US border control. Texas Governor Greg Abbott Tweeted about the deaths of the migrants in the San Antonio truck, directly blaming US President Joe Biden. “These deaths are on Biden. They are a result of his deadly open border policies. They show the deadly consequences of his refusal to enforce the law,” Abbott wrote.

Mexico is aiding and abetting these invaders. He is just avoiding responsibility. But Mr Biden is as well. But he want the US destroyed by these invaders.
