Former President Trump calls Elon Musk ‘another bullsh*t artist’ during speech in Alaska
While campaigning on behalf of House candidate Sarah Palin during a “Save America” rally in Anchorage, Alaska, former President Donald Trump called out Elon Musk as “another bullsh*t artist.”
Trump said of Musk during his speech: “Elon. Elon! Elon is not going to buy Twitter. Where did you hear that before? From me. He’s got himself a mess. You know, he said the other day, ‘I’ve never voted for a Republican.’ I said I didn’t know that. He told me he voted for me. So he’s another bullshit artist, but he’s not going to be buying it. Although he might later. Who the hell knows what’s going to happen? He’s got a pretty rotten contract. I looked at his contract, not a good contract.”
Trump was in Alaska to show off his endorsements for Palin and Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka, who is looking to unseat Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R). Trump condemned Murkowski in his speech, calling her a “RINO” (Republican In Name Only) and adding, “She is the worst.”
Some have suggested that Trump’s hostile remarks towards Musk are due to his recent show of support for Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) as his preferred 2024 presidential candidate – though DeSantis has made no indication that he intends to run.
Others think that Trump is simply upset that Musk’s Twitter buyout fell through because Musk previously said he would allow Trump back on the platform. Trump said at the time that even if his Twitter account were restored, he would stick to his own platform, Truth Social.
Musk backed out of a $44 billion deal to buy Twitter on Friday over what his attorneys described as “false and misleading representations upon which Mr. Musk relied when entering into the Merger Agreement.” The dispute is centered around the number of bot accounts on the platform. While Twitter executives have said fewer than 5% of accounts are bots, Musk believes the number to be much higher.
