President Biden has body aches and sore throat but is recovering well, his doctor says
Although the president has developed aches and a sore throat, he is managing the Paxlovid therapy well, according to his doctor.
Biden has contracted the BA5 variant of coronavirus, which is the most prevalent form in U.S. right now.
Dr. Kevin C. O’Connor, the president’s physician said that the disease is still in its early stages and they are hopeful for a full recovery.
“President Biden completed his second full day ofPAXLOVID last night,” O’Connor said. “His symptoms continue to improve. His primary symptoms, though less troublesome, now include sore throat, rhinorrhea, loose cough and body aches.”
The president is scheduled to take his third and final dose of the PAXgene today. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow morning before resuming a full schedule.
In the meantime, he is receiving frequent updates on the COVID-19 response and continues to work on his legislative agenda.
The vice president and the rest of the White House staff have tested negative for the virus and are following CDC guidelines.
Biden’s infection comes as the U.S. is seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases. The country has averaged more than 71,000 new cases per day over the past week, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The president’s infection also comes as several states are seeing a resurgence in the virus. California, for example, has seen a dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations over the past month.
The state is currently averaging more than 30,000 new cases per day, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
However, the number of deaths in the country has fallen substantially, and experts say the case count number is completely uncorrelated with hospitalizations, severe symptoms, and deaths.
