FBI Director Wray questioned on alleged bias in Hunter Biden probe

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing held on Thursday, FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted that the possibility of bias in the Hunter Biden investigation was “deeply troubling.”

This comes as the FBI is facing accusations of concealing “verified and verifiable” information about Hunter Biden by simply dismissing them as “disinformation.”

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) questioned Wray in regard to the conduct of 25-year veteran Timothy Thibault. Kennedy stated that Thibault showed clear bias by “liking” a post on social media, which was a Washington Post article titled “William Barr has gone rogue. Kennedy also noted that Thibault referred to Dick Cheney as a “disgrace,” and also re-tweeted a negative article about former President Donald Trump where the Lincoln Project post referred to him as “Donald Trump is a psychologically broken, embittered, and deeply unhappy man.”

Kennedy also alleged that Thibault was involved in the Russia investigation and was compliant in “covered up derogatory info about Mr. Biden while working at the FBI.” Wray acknowledged seeing “descriptions to that effect” however he placed the importance on being “careful” impeding any ongoing matters. Wray did concede that some of the social media activity was “troubling.”

“I want to be very careful not to interfere with ongoing personnel matters,” Wray replied. “I should say that when I read the letter that describes the kinds of things that you’re talking about, I found it deeply troubling.”

“The investigation that you’re referring to … is being run out of our Baltimore office working with the Delaware U.S. attorney,” Wray said when pressed on Thibault’s involvement in the Hunter Biden probe.

Wray added: “I will tell you that what you’re describing is not representative of the FBI that I see up close every day in this country, where I see patriots working their tails off with tremendous integrity and objectivity.”

According to Chuck Grassley (R-IO), FBI supervisory intelligence analyst Brian Auten “opened an assessment which was used by an FBI Headquarters team to improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation and caused investigative activity to cease.”

A whistleblower also stated that Thibault “ordered closed” an “avenue of additional derogatory Hunter Biden reporting,” according to Grassley, despite “all of the reporting was either verified or verifiable via criminal search warrants.”
