Sen. Elizabeth Warren allegedly said people told her they would’ve voted for her in 2020 election ‘if she had a penis’
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said that she was informed that she could have won the Democrat ticket in the 2020 election had she been born with the correct genitalia.
NBC News correspondent Ali Vitali recently released a new book, which is titled “Electable: Why America Hasn’t Put a Woman in the White House … Yet.” Vitali, who was a regular alongside Warren along during the 2020 Iowa primary campaign, said that Warren talked with her after the campaign and acknowledged that she didn’t do as well as she thought, in terms of votes.
“We’d talked about the dynamics of Iowa, her competitors and the pressure she put on herself not ‘to screw this up,’” Vitali wrote, per the Daily Wire. “Everyone comes up to me and says, ‘I would vote for you, if you had a penis,’” Vitali alleged that Warren told her.
A volunteer for Warren’s campaign also told Vitali about an unflattering comment made by a “60-year-old white woman with a peace sign in her front yard.” Upon seeing that the organizer was there on behalf of Warren, the elderly lady said, “Oh, sweetie, this country will never have a woman president.”
The campaigner chose to remain anonymous, but she did express her anger about the situation to Vitali. “I lost it, but that was the vibe. Women and men alike, both as explicitly as that but also implicitly, would just say, ‘Look, I think it’s great what you’re doing … but America — it’s just not gonna happen.’”
Warren’s comments did receive criticism and skepticism but were somewhat vindicated by Stephen Colbert during his “Late Night” show. “Folks, I’m afraid I have sad news for fans of competence,” Colbert said. “The one-time frontrunner Warren made the classic campaign mistake of being able to finish a coherent sentence and not having a penis.”
Vitali also alleged that Bernie Sanders (D-VM) stated that Warren could not win due to her being a woman. Sanders vehemently denied these allegations by saying that it’s “ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a woman couldn’t win,” Politico reports.
