Texas Democrat says Republican challenger Mayra Flores can’t ‘think’ or ‘speak’ for herself

The Democrat candidate who is running against Mayra Flores to represent Texas’ 34th Congressional District has questioned her ability to think independently.

Rep. Vicente Gonzalez hit out at Flores during a get-out-the-vote rally at the La Sierra Event Center in Harlingen, Texas when he said that Flores “can’t think for herself, can’t speak for herself, can’t act for herself, can’t vote for herself.”

Gonzales then asked the audience for their help in ensuring that he is elected.

“We can’t do this alone,” Gonzalez told his supporters. “We need everyone’s help, we need everyone’s friends, everyone’s family, and everyone’s friends’ and families’ friends and family. That’s the way we’re gonna push back on these outside resources coming here picking a candidate, a hand-picked candidate that can’t think for herself, can’t speak for herself, can’t act for herself, can’t vote for herself.”

“After we lost 19 children and two teachers in a massacre in Uvalde, Texas, her first vote in the United States Congress was a no vote on the Keep Communities Safer Act,” Gonzales added.

In a recent interview with the Washington Examiner, Gonzalez also took aim at Flores’s political views by describing them as “extreme right-wing, election-denying, thinks that January 6 was a hoax, believes QAnon conspiracy theories.”

“Middle-of-the-road Chamber of Commerce business Republicans are with us. We do have some Republicans, but they’re very moderate businesspeople. They’re not the Trump flag-carrying Republicans,” Gonzales added.

Taylor Zanazzi, who is Flores’s campaign manager, played down Gonzales’s character attack by saying “If those lies are the best he has, buena suerte!” – Spanish for “good luck!”

Fox News Digital reported that an ad from Gonzalez’s re-election campaign featured an edited picture of Flores holding a weapon. Gonzales reportedly posted the image to raise awareness of Flores voting against the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in the wake of the Uvalde shooting.

Flores responded to the ad in an interview with FoxNews “First, Vicente Gonzalez hired a racist blogger to attack me for my heritage. Now Vicente is doing the dirty work himself with this shameless and pathetic Photoshopping. The people in the [Rio Grande Valley] are smarter than this and will see right through Vicente’s scare tactics and constant lies.”

The only people who don’t think for themselves are those on the “Left”. Those on the “Right” look at everything and work to insure every one can prosper. And the “Right” is about supporting the US Constitution and real Rule of Law.
